WELCOME TO BETWEEN BREATHS
Stillness, space and mindful presence in a noisy world.
A gentle place to pause, notice what matters, and begin finding a way forward that feels like your own — with someone walking alongside you, amid the mess and noise of everyday life.

A PLACE TO BEGIN
Start wherever you are.
There is no right way to arrive here. Sometimes it helps simply to name what life feels like, without needing to explain it perfectly or do anything about it straight away.
A DOORWAY
Feeling lost?
When life does not quite make sense, even if you cannot yet put your finger on why.
FEELING LOST?
You do not have to know the whole route.
Feeling lost can be exhausting. It can look like carrying on with life while something inside you is asking for a little more attention.
Sometimes the next helpful thing is not a plan. It’s a pause: enough space to notice where you are, what’s there, and perhaps what it is you’ve been carrying.
A place to pause.
Between Breaths aims to offer a space where your sense of safety matters—a place to pause and explore, gain clarity, reconnect and regain a sense of direction, with time to consider the next step from different perspectives before moving forward with a plan.
A DOORWAY
Feeling stuck?
.We may know that something needs to change without knowing what, how, or even where to begin
FEELING STUCK?
You don’t have to try to push your way through.
We may know that something needs to change without knowing what, how, or even where to begin.
Perhaps you recognise some of this:
- You are tired of trying to think your way out of everything.
- Life feels busy, but you do not feel fully present in it.
- You are drawn to change, while feeling unsure what that might look like.
- You would value a space where you do not have to perform or have a tidy answer.
The next step can be small.
You are welcome to explore in whatever way feels right for you.
ABOUT BETWEEN BREATHS
Between Breaths began as a simple idea which arose from my own meditation practice: that the space between one breath and the next holds the potential to change everything.
Not through force or grand gestures, but through the quiet, almost unnoticed shifts that happen when we pause, notice, and allow.
The name came to me during a time when life felt fast and full. I realised I had been living as if each breath was a sprint — chasing the next task, the next thought, the next demand. In slowing down, I discovered a gentler rhythm, one where my mind and body could meet in the same place.
The pause — that moment of present awareness — became a doorway back to myself, and to what I wanted from life. At its heart, Between Breaths is about creating spaces for people to find their own doorway, and their own path.
Alongside mindfulness and meditation, our work together may include other recognised ways of working with change. What we draw upon—and how we begin—depends on what matters to you and what you need from the space.
MEET STEVE
Holding spaces for conversation and change since 1992.
Steve Hartley has spent more than three decades working alongside individuals, groups and organisations as a counsellor, coach, trainer and facilitator.
His approach is warm, grounded and gently curious. It makes room for the fact that life can be untidy and that people do not need to be ‘fixed’ in order to be met with respect, care and possibility.
He brings experience, curiosity and a range of recognised approaches. The starting point is what matters to you, and the direction develops from there.
“Practical enough to fit into a busy day, and spacious enough to feel like a genuine pause. You’re important, so why not take a moment to recognise that, and what it means.”

THE NEXT STEP CAN BE SMALL
Explore in the way that feels right for you.
Change does not have to mean forcing yourself to become someone else. It may begin with reconnecting with yourself and what matters; creating enough space to reset; and gradually realigning your life with what you value, need and hope for.
